Who We Are  
Shem Creek, SCThe South Atlantic Fishery Management Council, headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, is one of eight regional fishery management councils in the United States. The South Atlantic Council is responsible for the conservation and management of fish stocks within the federal 200-mile limit off the coasts of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and east Florida to Key West.

Council Approves Snapper Grouper Amendment 15B (posted June 17, 2008)
The Council gave final approval to Amendment15B to the Snapper Grouper Fishery Management Plan during its meeting in Orlando, Florida, this past week.  The amendment includes a management measure that will require a federal Snapper Grouper Commercial Permit in order to sell or purchase any species in the snapper grouper management complex.   read more...
